Sudan : Ex-President al-Bashir In Prison Custody

Sudan’s former President Omar al-Bashir was on April 16, 2019 moved to Kobar Maximum Security Prison in the capital, Khartoum, the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC reported. He is reportedly being held in solitary confinement under tight security. The ex-leader, who was overthrown in a military coup on April 11, 2019, was until now detained at the presidential residence under heavy guard. The latest development comes after Uganda offered to grant al-Bashir political asylum. The former President faces charges of organising war crimes and crimes against humanity allegedly committed in the western Darfur region, for which the International Criminal Court, The Hague, The Netherlands, issued a warrant of arrest.
