Saudi Arabia: 50,000 Billion FCFA Recovered From Corrupt Officials


Authorities in Saudi Arabia on January 30, 2019 announced the end of a two-year anticorruption drive that saw over 200 princes, ministers and business chiefs rounded up. More than 100 billion US dollars (over 57,158 billion FCFA) in assets – including property and cash – was recovered, the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, reported, citing Royal officials.

Deals were reached with 87 individuals who confessed to the charges against them, while 8 others refused to do so and have been referred to the Public Prosecutor. Some 56 other cases have not been settled because criminal charges yet to be resolved. 50
