The projected budget will cover all expenditures for the Ministry within the 2018 fiscal year.
The Ministry of Public Contracts has proposed FCFA 17,189 billion as budget for next year. Of the projected amount submitted for validation, FCFA 16,129 billion will serve as running budget, expenditure on personnel will take FCFA 3,686 million while scholarships and internships will swallow FCFA 117 million.
The ministry’s public investment budget stands at FCFA 1,6 billion and personal expenditure excluding gross salary is FCFA 4,496 million.
As stipulated in the Growth and Employment Strategy Paper, GESP, the public contracts system is expected to effectively contribute to the operationalisation of the national development policy through the effective procurement of goods and services which are neccessary for the functioning of the public administration, improvement of the business environment and the living conditions of the population.
Defending his budget before the Finance and Budget Committee, the Minister Delegate at the Presidency of the Republic in charge of Public Contracts, Abba Sadou, said his Ministry shall in 2018 continue with the implementation of two operational programmes and one support programme which he named Programme 715, 716 and 717.
The outlined programmes centre on strenthening the public contracts, improving the control of the execution of public contracts and improving governance and institutional support to the public contracts sub-sector.
