Legislative, Municipal Elections : ELECAM Prepares For Successful Organisation

Elections Cameroon (ELECAM) is leaving no stone unturned to ensure the successful organisation of the twin municipal and legislative elections of February 9, 2020. It is for this reason that a training of trainers workshop started in Yaounde on December 19, 2019 with the objective of training officials who will in the coming days be deployed to the field to train Regional, Divisional and Council staff of the institution, chairs of local polling commissions, as well as members of the council and divisional supervisory commissions.

The Director General of Elections at ELECAM, Erick Essousse chaired the opening ceremony of the workshop that ends today. He said it was aimed at arming them with the knowledge and tools to be effective in carrying out the electoral process. He further specified that the overall objective was to ensure the successful organisation of the twin municipal and legislative elections of February 9, 2020.  The Director General said they want to deploy teams to the field that are motivated to carry out their mission. He therefore urged, “I expect from you a full commitment, a particular brand of seriousness and respect to make this workshop take place in the greatest serenity, the objective is to make everyone a real expert in electoral matters.”

The workshop participants are therefore arming themselves by mastering aspects such as the qualities of a good facilitator, judicial framework, electoral communication, professional ethics and deontology, electoral disputes, as well as the different commissions.
