Kenya’s President, Uhuru Kenyatta on February 13, 2018 accepted the resignation of the Attorney General, Prof. Githu Muigai, commending him for services rendered to the nation since 2011 when he was appointed by former President Mwai Kibaki. The BBC reported that Muigai’s resignation came after the government ignored several court orders in recent weeks. Ahead of the January 30, 2018 mock inauguration of opposition leader Raila Odinga as the self-declared « People’s President, » the government suspended several Kenyan TV stations to prevent them from broadcasting the ceremony.
