Some over 100 families of Internally Displaced persons (IDP) have received building materials in Kumba to start reconstructing their homes in Mbonge Sub-Division, Meme Division of the South West Region. These materials include; 1000 corrugated sheets, 1000 bags cement, plank and nails. The I.D.P’s received these building materials from the Senior Divisional Officer for Meme, Ntou’ou Ndong Chamberlin, who explained to them that the gesture was from the Heath of state President Paul Biya who has a lot of concern for them. Meanwhile over 800 families in Meme Division on Sunday December 23, 2018 also received humanitarian assistance of the Head of State, including, soap, oil, sardine, mattresses, blankets, sugar amongst others. The Meme SDO used the handing over ceremony to appeal to those who are still in the bushes to come out and receive their own share of the assistance from the Head of State. He equally called on the youths who are carrying arms in the bushes to put them down and come out as they will immediately be integrated into the society by the state. The SDO, urged the various Divisional Officers of the five sub-Divisions that make up Meme Division and who are charged with the distribution to make sure the gifts are distributed to the rightful beneficiaries. According to some displaced persons from Mbonge who benefited from building materials and who spoke to C.T. said they were very happy with the concern the Head of State has for them, adding that the building materials will go a long way to help them reconstruct their houses while the food items and mattresses will also help them to sleep comfortably where ever they find themselves. Adding that since their arrival in Kumba six months ago, they have been sleeping on tare floor with their loins and didn’t have enough to eat.
