Gifts For Orphans Of War Victims


The Ministry of Defence has this year included children of soldiers and members of vigilante groups killed while fighting Boko Haram.

 

There were smiles, shouts of happiness and gratitude at the Headquarters Brigade of the Ministry of Defence in Yaounde on December 24, 2016 as pupils of nursery schools of military camps, as well as orphans of soldiers and members of vigilante groups who died while defending  Cameroon received diverse gifts.

The Secretary of State at the Ministry of Defence in charge of Ex-servicemen and War Victims, Koumpa Issa chaired the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony in the presence of the Ministers of Basic Education, Youssouf Adidja Alim, Social Affairs Pauline Irene Nguene , Women’s Empowerment and the Family, Marie Therèse Abena Ondoa among other senior government, military and religious officials.

Koumpa Issa said it was an occasion to give smiles and assurance of a bright future to orphans of fallen soldiers and members of the vigilante groups and encourage pupils in military nursery schools to work harder. A similar ceremony took place in all military camps in the country, Koumpa Issa said.

In response to problems of working conditions in the schools in military camps presented by the Headmistress of the Yaounde National Gendarmerie Nursery School IA, Natchan Soua, the presiding Secretary of State said the ministry was determined to improve working conditions in the schools.

He said particular attention will be paid to contract teachers and also announced plans to create multimedia centres in the schools to improve on quality education offered the pupils. The event was spiced by songs, sketches and rhymes presented by the pupils.
