The weekend will be full of exciting football action as the national Elite Two championship enters the 13th playing day this weekend. With barely two days left to the end of the first phase of the Elite Two championship, tomorrow’s matches promise to be tough as each side will be fighting to secure a comfortable seat on the classification table. Also, some of the teams will be seeking to escape the relegation zone before moving to the second round.
Great improvement has however been recorded in the performance of some of the teams recently. After 12 playing days AS FAP is leading the classification table with 17 points in spite of the their 0-1 loss to Unisport of Bafang in a day 12 encounter played on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. They are followed by Yafoot with 16 points and Renaissance of Ngoumou with 15 points. Even though FAP is leading the league table, the Armed Forces and Police team will leave nothing to chance in order to maintain the lead. On the other hand, Yafoot and especially Renaissance of Ngoumou which have put up good performances recently will give their best to win in order to occupy the top spot. Renaissance of Ngoumou beat Ngaoundere FC 2-0 at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo while Yafoot thrashed Dynamo FC 2-0. In the other encounters, OFTA of Kribi beat Leopards of Douala 1-0, Astres drew 1-1 with AS Matelots and Stade Bertoua outclassed Fauve Azure 1-0.
According to the official programme Ngaounde FC will clash with Racing Bafoussam, Leopards Douala will play against Astres of Douala, AS Matelots will face OFTA of Kribi, AS FAP will welcome Stade Bertoua, New Stars will play against Renaissance, AS Etoa Meki will play against Unisport of Bafang and bottom placed Foncha Street will play against Yaofoot. For the 13th playing day, Dynamo FC is exempt.
