The Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on December 1, 2016 granted two separate audiences.
The Representative of the World Bank to Cameroon, Elisabeth Huybens says the Cameroonian economy has so far demonstrated resilience and could be made more performant by making public expenditure more efficient than it is today through the development of infrastructure. Elisabeth Huybens made the recommendation during discussions with the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril on Thursday, December 1, 2016.
Talking to press after the discussions, she praised the Cameroonian economy of demonstrating resilience in the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) zone following the drop in oil prices which is the mainstay of most economies in the zone. She advised that the country’s economy could benefit from policy, regulatory and institutional measures that could complement investments in infrastructure and to improve quality.
Before the discussions with the World Bank official, Hon. Cavaye Yeguie Djibril received in audience the Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Cameroon, Mahmoud Mohammed Al Mahmoud with residence in Abuja, Nigeria. The diplomat told the press after the audience that their discussions were useful and fruitful. He said discussions focused specifically on consolidating relations between the two countries and two peoples. This, he said, would better be done through the creation of a parliamentary friendship group and exchange of visits between parliamentarians.
