The Tonga council in the Nde division of the West Region, has realized a surplus of FCFA 45.297.387 over the council expenditure for 2016 financial year. This was revealed by Mayor Bitchebe Desire Raphael during an administrative and management account session of the council for 2016, that held at the council conference hall from, 24-25 April, 2017. The session that was supervised by the second Assistant, SDO for Nde division, Ndoungmo Emmanuel was aimed at examining the administrative and management accounts of the council for 2016 financial year. In a statistical presentation, Mayor Bitchebe, disclosed that in 2016, revenue collected stood at FCFA 332.945.477, while total expenditure within the same period was FCFA 287,648,090, indicating an increase of 45 million FCFA, as compared to the previous year. He disclosed further that several socio-economic and cultural developments took place during 2016 fiscal year, citing the rehabilitation of earth roads, construction of classrooms, extension of electricity to some rural areas, lighting of major streets in Tonga town, opening up drainage systems etc. For his part, the second Assistant, SDO for Nde Division, Ndoungmo Emmanuel revealed that council sessions were important because it offered the councilors the opportunity to examine and approve the detailed accounting figures of actual revenue and expenditure for the financial year, adding that it is from the study that the councilors will know whether previous projects have been carried out. He called on councilors to cooperate with the council executive by sensitizing economic promoters, businessmen to pay their taxes. Main time, the councilors approved the detailed accounting figures that were presented by the Mayor and council treasurer by voting 100%.
