The authorities in Congo Brazzaville have confirmed the presence on their territory of Gen. Faustin Munene, a dissident officer from the Democratic Republic of Congo, DRC, who was arrested in Gabon last month and later expelled. Radio France Internationale on February 5, 2017 cited Thierry Moungalla, Congolese Minister for Communication, as making the statement following inquiries by the former army chief’s family. Meanwhile, Congolese authorities have reiterated that Gen. Munene will not be extradited to DRC.
