The 4th edition of the get-together forum christened, “Quality-Image approach” of the Douala city council took place on Thursday October 5th at the Multi-Purpose Hall of the naval base in Douala with special focus on adopting numeric technology in management as a means of improving public service. Opening the meeting which was extended to some partners, the Government Delegate to the Douala City Council, Fritz Ntone Ntone said the Douala urban council has entered a new era of management based on four axes; improve on the living conditions of people, ameliorating economic competiveness, make Douala a reference in matters of environmental management and improving urban governance.

He disclosed that the urban council has come up with an urban development plan, land occupation plan and computerised the process of granting building permits. He announced that the Douala city council was now connected to the web through the computerisation of administrative data and creation of a website which he said will facilitate information not only about the city of Douala and its potentials but also enable the public get instantaneous information on the services rendered by the city council. In order to increase council revenue, he announced the eventual creation of an investment company, ‘Societé Metropolitaine d’investissement’

The event saw a projection on the good effects of the numeric technology in management as well as four presentations on the following topics; the impact of numeric technology on the communication strategy of the city of Douala, progressing in addressing houses in Douala through the geographic information system, the simplification of the deliverance of urban documents thanks to digital technology and the modernisation of the Douala city website. The event also saw workers of the city council take an engagement to work hard to achieve the goals of the council. According to the Government delegate, the objective of his administration is to make Douala a modern regional economic metropolis geared towards the future. The meeting ended in merrymaking and exchange of gifts between the council and some partners. There was also the maiden presentation of an anthem for the council.
