Citizenship, Volunteerism: Yaounde Welcomes Caravan

It is in prelude to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations beginning on November 19, 2016.

The citizenship and volunteerism campaign continued in all the seven subdivisions of Yaounde on Wednesday November 16, 2016. It was organised in prelude to the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations that begins on November 19, 2016. It was an opportunity for the inhabitants of Yaounde to carry out hygiene and sanitation activities in their areas.

The caravan, led by the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou, visited the different strategic sites where sanitation activities were going on to mobilise the public. At the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex area, Minister Monouna Foutsou joined the volunteer workers in clearing the environment. In all the subdivisions visited, the Minister took the same message to the public on the need for general hygiene and responsible behaviour before and during the competition.

The caravan passed through the subdivisions with the slogan, “Citizenship and volunteerism: What have you done for your neighbourhood for the AFCON 2016?” It was also an opportunity to broadcast and distribute copies of civic spots aimed at informing, sensitising and mobilising the public on “Operation Citizenship and Patriotic AFCON.” Minister Monouna Foutsou expressed satisfaction with the work done on the field by the local committees. He said the operation has been launched to have a citizenship and patriotic AFCON 2016. “We hope that with the mobilisation, we will be able to show an exemplary Cameroon to Cameroon and Africa,” he said.
