Chad now has a new minority leader or leader of the opposition in the person of Romadoumngar Félix Nialbé, who replaced Saleh Kebzabo, Radio France International, RFI, reported on April 17, 2019. A Supreme Court ruling on April 12, 2019 said Kebzabo had ceased to occupy the position provided for in the constitution after a parliamentarian from his “Union nationale pour la démocratie et le renouveau,” UNDR party decamped to the ruling party of President Idriss Deby. UNDR is now left with seven parliamentarians as against eight for Romadoumngar Félix Nialbé “Union pour la République et la démocratie,” URD. Meanwhile, Kebzabo has faulted the Supreme Court decision, saying the position of Minority Leader lasts a whole legislature.
