Cameroon Victory Enlivens Limbe City


The population came out to greet the win over Ghana last Tuesday.

 

Shouts of joy echoed across the City of Limbe on Tuesday night as the Cameroon – Ghana match referee sounded her last whistle to bring the final halt. As if to express a big relief, bikes and taxis hooted from all corners of Limbe to greet the Cameroon laborious goal.

For a city whose inhabitants remained glued to their TV sets during the match with a lot of belief and wish, the determining moment came to satisfy fans who are already predicting Cameroon as winners of this year’s Women’s AFCON. From Bota land to Bimbia, and from Bobende to Cassava Farm, the echoes flew and landed like rain on the coastal city that played host to pool B of the 2016 Women AFCON in Cameroon. Beer parlours flooded, music boomed, fans yelled and the whole city resonated.

The joy drove numerous fans of Limbe and Buea to the Limbe Omnisports Stadium to watch the other semi final match between Nigeria and South Africa which ended with Nigeria qualifying to meet Cameroon at the final in Yaounde next 3 December.
