Cameroon-Gabon Cooperation: Ministers Discuss Fight Against Insecurity


Within the framework of strengthening bilateral relations between Cameroon and Gabon, the Gabonese Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooper ation, Regional Integration, La Francophonie and Gabonese abroad is in Cameroon for a working visit which started yesterday May 9 and ends today May 10, 2019. He was received in audience by the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbellla Mbella, after which a working session was held between authorities of both countries on several issues.

Of the several points examined at the Ministry of External Relations was the problem of illegal exploitation of resources and poaching, the opening of an Honorary Consul in Douala, the fight against insecurity, the sociopolitical situation in Central Africa Republic and the next interministerial conference of CEMAC, amongst other issues.

Speaking to the press after the audience and working session, Abdu Razzaq Guy Kambogo stated that Cameroon and Gabon are neighbouring countries and on that note constantly meet to exchange ideas and examine issues of common interest. “This afternoon, we discussed on several topics of mutual interest and other aspects relating to sub regional dynamics. We had economic and security exchanges which is the concern of everyone in the subregion and we arrived at encouraging conclusions which permit us to consolidate our position.

We urge all commissions created on transborder security to continue working for the safety of the sub-region,” he stated. He noted that other issues discussed bordered on the protection of the environment and improving cooperation ties between Cameroon and Gabon. A State dinner in his honour was equally offered yesterday evening at the Yaounde Hilton hotel.
