The growing excellent cooperation ties featured prominently during a State dinner in honour of the outgoing Ambassador of Congo, Gisele Bouanga Kalou

Cameroon’s Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella  and the outgoing Ambassador of the Republic of Congo to Cameroon, Gisele Bouanga Kalou on September 11, 2017 in Yaounde, expressed converging views on the growing and diversified cooperation ties between their two countries.

It was on the occasion of the State dinner offered by the Head of State President Paul Biya in honour of  Gisele Bouanga Kalou who has piloted the affairs of Congo’s diplomatic mission in Cameroon for close to five years. Minister Mbella Mbella chaired the event at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel. In the  toast he proposed, the Minister cited bilateral cooperation projects  such as the ongoing tarring of the Sangmelima-Ouesso road, the Inter-State University in Sangmelima, the Joint Commission sessions between the two countries and President Denis Sassou Nguesso’s three visits to Cameroon within five years. He said the two countries were working within the framework of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC) and the Economic Community of Central African States (ECCAS) to secure sub-regional peace, security and development. The Minister said both Cameroon and Congo were experiencing political stability due to the will and clairvoyance of the two Heads of State to foster democracy and the State of law. He called on Ambassador Gisele Bouanga Kalou to follow up so that the eighth session of the Cameroon-Congo Joint Commission could be organised in the coming days.

In the name of  President Paul Biya, Minister Mbella Mbella decorated her with the medal of the Grand Officer of the National Order of Valour. While responding to Minister Mbella Mbella’s toast, during the State dinner, she once more highlighted connection projects between Cameroon and Congo to celebrate the excellent bilateral relations. She called for the preservation of the Congo Basin forest in order to fight against climate change. The Ambassador said Congo was ready to learn from Cameroon’s experience in the agricultural sector. The celebration of flourishing bilateral relations took place in the presence of many cabinet ministers from Cameroon and a host of other dignitaries.
