The 13th Algerian trade fair, which ran from January 23-28, was part of efforts to revive economic cooperation between the two countries
Relations between Cameroon and Algeria are friendly and good. That trade exchanges have remained in the doldrums is a matter of concern that needs more serious initiative to revive. For the 13th time Algeria through the Algerian-Cameroonian Business Committee has been visibly committed to reviving the economic cooperation with Cameroon through the holding of annual trade fairs in the economic capital of Douala.
The conference hall of the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce in Bonanjo is playing host to this vital trade fair that has brought together 150 Algerian industries exhibiting their products, with a call for partnerships and more business exchanges with Cameroonian business men. Douhest Bouthaina, Delegate General of the Algerian-Cameroonian Business Committee, during a meeting with the press January 24, 2017, highlighted challenges such as the reluctance of Algerian financial institutions to fund businesses willing to establish elsewhere, reason why few Algerian small and medium-sized enterprises and industries have established in Cameroon since the Committee began working to revive economic cooperation with Cameroon. Products on exhibition range from electricity, medical drugs, optical fibres, and dairy products, among several other things.
