Ambassador Merzak Bedjaoui was on September 28, 2016, received in the Ministry of External Relations.
Relations between Cameroon and Algeria are growing to higher heights as evidenced by the invitation to a strong delegation from Cameroon to participate in the upcoming Algeria Business and Investment Forum scheduled for December 3-5, 2016. The invitation was extended on September 28, 2016, in Yaounde during discussions between the Minister Delegate in the Ministry of External Relations in charge of Relations with the Islamic World, Adoum Gargoum and the Algerian Ambassador to Cameroon, Merzak Bedjaoui. According to the Algerian diplomat, the forum, which will be the first of its kind in Africa, will bring together over 2,000 participants.
Apart from the business and investment forum, Ambassador Merzak also announced the imminent participation of Cameroonian historians in a seminar to be organised on archives. The seminar, he said, is in view of retrieving both Algerian and Cameroonian archives held in a certain European country. Both men equally used Wednesday’s audience to comment on the upcoming African Union submit to hold in Addis Ababa, which will have as part of its agenda the re-admission of Morocco.
Ambassador Merzak Bedjaoui and his host also talked about the 31 Cameroonian students awarded scholarships to study in Algeria this year. He said the beneficiaries left the country on Tuesday September 27, for Algeria after a farewell ceremony in the Ambassador’s residence in Yaounde. Algeria, he stated, will continue to offer scholarships to Cameroonian students for professional training and higher education.
