Business Climate : MINEPAT Presents Strides


Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey outlined the strategies while responding to questions from Members of Parliament at the plenary of the National Assembly on March 16, 2018.

The questioning of Minsters by Lawmakers at the National Assembly is routine. The sole object of the exercise is to get a balance sheet from the concened Minister of the state of advancements and prospects of earmarked priority projects.

Friday March 16, 2018 witnessed Alamine Ousmane Mey, Minister of the Economy, Planning and Regional Develoment (MINEPAT) presenting government’s development policy within the framework of improving the business climate in Cameoon.

Hon. Tomaino Ndam Njoya of the Cameroon Democratic Union (CDU) quizzed the Minister on the government’s policy relating to improving the business climate in the coutry, development, research and archieving emergency within the stipulated timeframe.

In his response, Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey dwelled on four axis; governmnent’s strategic development vision of the country, legislative disponsitions, operational actions, results and prospectives.

He stated that the government appreciate and will continue to support the private sector in their efforts of fostering national growth and employment.

Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey highlighted on the constant consultaions between government and private investors in the country as a measure of improving the business atmosphere in the country.

He cited the 9th edition of the Cameroon Business Forum organised in Douala on 12 March 2018 as an example of a platform for experience sharing. The MINEPAT boss stressed on the need for a consistent positive balance of trade as a faster means of achieving industrialisation.

He also mentioned second-generation agricultural projects which are underway to increase productivity. Minister Alamine Ousmane Mey regretted on the security challenges in the Northern part of the country which are negatively impacting development given that resources for regional planning are rechannelled to combact insecurity.
