After Haiti and Chad, the sex scandal involving British charity, Oxfam, has now spread to South Sudan with allegations of rape and sexual abuse in Liberia where the not-for-profit organisation has undertaken humanitarian activities in recent years. Former Belgian soldier, Roland van Hauwermeiren, is at the centre of the unprecedented scandal. He was fired by Oxfam in 2004 in response to claims that charity staff in Haiti and other countries paid vulnerable people for sex. Meanwhile, actress Minnie Driver on February 13, 2018, announced her resignation as Oxfam Celebrity Ambassador, expressing horror at the claims.
