Africa-Israel Summit: Cameroon Invited To Togo


The Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon, Ran Gidor handed the invitation at the Ministry of External Relations on August 10, 2017.

The first-ever Africa-Israel Summit will take place in Lome, Togo in October 2017 and Cameroon has been invited to attend the historic summit. “We consider Cameroon to be not only a friend but an intimate ally of Israel,” Ambassador of Israel to Cameroon Ran Gidor said after meeting the Minister of External Relations, Lejeune Mbella Mbella in Yaounde on August 10, 2017.

The Ambassador declared that, “We are organising the first-ever Israel-Africa Summit that will take place in Lome, Togo in October 2017. We are inviting Heads of State, leading government ministers, business communities civil societies and of course journalists from all over Africa”. He said, “this is going to be a landmark event that will upgrade relations between Israel and African countries.” As such, he stated that, “It was my pleasure to extend our invitation through the Minister of External Relations to the entire political system of Cameroon.”

Concerning bilateral relations between Cameroon and Israel, he said they were excellent as the two countries cooperate in several domains. One of such domains is counter-terrorism. The Ambassador disclosed that Israel is an ally of Cameroon in the fight against Boko Haram. He also said Israel was investing   much to promote agriculture in Cameroon. He stated that every year between 60 to 80 Cameroonians are invited to Israel for training in many areas some of which are healthcare and solar energy. “We are very pleased with the degree of cooperation,” Ambassador Ran Gidor concluded.
