500 Pupils, Kindergarten Children Receive Stationery

Amongst them were underprivileged school children based in Douala.

Given the difficulties encountered by parents in sending their children back to school, donations made up of exercise books, bags and other stationery, were offered to 500 school children in Douala I Subdivision. The President of the Youth Wing of the Cameroon People’s Democratic Movement, Jean Roi Titti Essome Bernard, made the donation to help defray the cost encountered by parents during this period of school reopening.

It was a rare moment and privilege to the children who shared in the joy of receiving the gifts recently at the Salle de Fêtes in Akwa, Douala. Most of the beneficiaries were orphans and other vulnerable children from orphanages and foster homes. The sixth annual donation, dubbed “Operation one chalk, one arm board,” is part of efforts to alleviate poverty, strengthen and improve education.

During the hand-over ceremony to the nursery and primary school children, Jean Roi Titti Essome Bernard committed to assist in the education of the less privileged of his community, most especially in his capacity as President of the youth wing of the governing party. The young people were selected from each of the 11 CPDM Sub-sections in Douala I Subdivision as well as from associations of disabled persons.
