2018 DIXIADES : Olympic Committee Appreciates Government’s Efforts


The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Bidoung Mkpatt, granted audience to the President of the National Olympic and Sports Committee, Kalkaba Malboum, on Friday December 28, 2018 in his cabinet.

Speaking after the audience, Kalkaba Malboum said the purpose for his visit was to thank the Minister of Sports and Physical Education for the strong support he gave to the organisation of the just-ended National Games of Cameroon (DIXIADES 2018) in Bafoussam in the West Region. He said the games were successful without any hitches and that all the youths who travelled to Bafoussam from the ten regions of the country returned home safely. “I came to concert with the Minister of Sports and Physical Education because it is our collaboration that will help boost our sports movement,” he said.

Another point of discussion was the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan. Kalkaba Malboum said he came to remind the Minister that the Olympic Games are around the corner and it is time to start preparations in order to ensure victories in Tokyo. The two men also discussed the situation of football in Cameroon. Kalkaba Malboum said there is a new executive board of FECAFOOT and after five years of crisis in the institution it is time to ensure stability, promote the good will of keeping the main sport strong and face the new challenges ahead notably the organisation of the Africa Cup of Nations. Concerning the mandates in sports federations he said the federations at the end of the second term of the mandates. He believes it will be good to close the mandates at the end of the Olympic Games in 2020.
