2018 BGFI Noah Tour: Corentin Denoly Lifts Trophy


The Yaounde Tennis Club was exceptionally busy on Saturday December 8, 2018. The event was the final of the third edition of the international lawn tennis tournament called BGFI Noah Tour. Organised by the BGFI Bank Cameroon, in collaboration with Tara Sports and Entertainment, the competition bought together top professionals from 30 countries in the world. For close to two weeks lovers of lawn tennis in Yaounde and its environs watched young athletes display rich talents in tennis.

The final match pitched France’s Corentin against Tunisia’s Skander Mansouri. It was a tough encounter that held spectators spellbound as they watched the players. The first set ended with a 6-6 draw and needed a tie break to separate the athletes. At the end of the competition, Corentin Denoly emerged winner beating Skander Mansouri 2-0 sets (7-6), (6-4). The victory was the first professional victory for Corentin Denoly. Skander Mansouri on his part lost the competition but won the first tournament called “Futre” 1 last week. The tournament which is an initiative of Tara Sports is also part of the international tennis competition. The BGFI tournament I is part of the international singles tournament of the International Tennis Federation (ITF). 

The objective is to assist future talents in Africa and the world. The competition which took place in several phases enabled the athletes to win points and improve on their world rankings. The Director of Tara Sports, Annie Eliane Nana expressed satisfaction with the performance of the athletes. She said the competition also gave a chance for Cameroonian athletes to test the skills and work hard to be able to meet the standards of other professionals. The next edition of the competition will take place in November 2019 in Yaounde.
